Acianthera (Scheidw., 1842)
SOTTOFAMIGLIA: Epidendroideae, TRIBU’: Epidendreae, SOTTOTRIBU’: Pleurothallidinae
Genere con 302 specie accettate. Sono orchidee epifite, caratterizzate da un sottile o robusto, lungo o corto picciolo che porta una foglia sessile. Sono erette o ricadenti, a volte prostrate. L’infiorescenza è lunga o corta, è fiorisce contemporaneamente oppure con un solo fiore, emerge all’estremità all’apice del ramo (solitamente sulla pagine superiore della foglia). I sepali sono più o meno carnosi e pubescenti o verrucosi. I tepali sono piccoli e dentulati fino a un certo punto. Il labello è spesso, oblungo, bicalloso, con lobi laterali.
